| Description | Rubrofusarin, also known as nsc 258316, is a member of the class of compounds known as naphthopyranones. Naphthopyranones are compounds containing a naphthopyran skeleton where a ring carbon bears a carboxylic acid group. Naphthtopyran is made up of the pyran ring fused to a naphthalene ring system. Rubrofusarin is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Rubrofusarin can be found in mango, which makes rubrofusarin a potential biomarker for the consumption of this food product. |
